Keyavi 2.1+ (Keyavi Desktop application)
Keyavi users and Keyavi administrators
When setting up Keyavi, organizations have the option of setting up "out-of-the-box file type support" or "native file type support" for the Read-only functionality with the Keyavi Desktop application.
When enabled with "out-of-the-box file type support," Read-only access can only be given to limited file types, including Microsoft Word (.docx), Microsoft Excel (.xlsx), Text (.txt), Adobe PDF (.pdf), image (.png, .jpg), and video (.mp4) files. With this setting, opening files with Read-only access will display in a Keyavi-protected viewer which has editing, printing, screensharing, and screen-capturing capabilities disabled. This function is standard with Keyavi, requiring no third-party licenses.
On the contrary, when enabled with "native file type support," the Keyavi Desktop application can open 150 different file types with Read-only access in a SharePoint-enhanced viewer based on the file's native application. To see the full list of files type that are supported with the SharePoint enhancement, click here. Like the out-of-the-box solution, editing, printing, screensharing, and screen-capturing capabilities are disabled in Read-only mode. However, note that a SharePoint or OneDrive license is required for each user, as well as a dedicated OneDrive service account to enable native file type support.

Known Limitations
- Native file type support is an administrator configuration selection for Read-Only files across the entire environment. When selected, it replaces Read-only out of the box file support for all users.
- With the SharePoint Enhancement (native file type support) enabled in Read-only mode, Keyavi can only open 3-D files up to 250MB in size and thumbnails or image previews if the image size is less than 100 MB (approximately 12000 x 8000 pixels). The full list of impacted file extensions is available here.
- Video, audio, and other file types requiring streaming are not supported with native file type support.
- The user may see an error message when opening a file not supported in Read-only mode. The full list of supported file types is available here.
- When opening certain type file in Read-only mode, clicking on some buttons (e.g. Share) may lead to an unexpected behavior, such as a share link pop-up not displaying properly). Usually, it’s possible to go back to the initial screen by pressing the Esc key.
