When configuring Intelligent Directory™, administrators have the option of automatically deleting the original unprotected version of the file.
Some organizations will want to delete the original unprotected file for security purposes. They want to ensure that the data only exists in the Keyavi-enabled filed, so they will opt to automatically delete the original file.
Other organizations may choose to keep the original unprotected file for forensics purposes. They may have a requirement to maintain original copies. If this is being done, Keyavi highly recommends ensuring other security mechanisms are in place to protect the original files in a separate location.
Keyavi recommends assessing the risk and benefits of both options to make an informed decision.
